Still Time to Participate

 February 3, 2012

Amy White, Functional Nutritionist

Hi, there is still time to sign up to participate in the food related research project that I have to do for my masters class. I have created an on-line food journal that I will ask participants to fill out and submit. The journal entries will be anonymous. I am trying to compile some data about our eating habits. What types of foods we eat.

Those of you who read my blog are interested in food and health. I’m hoping my research project will shed some light on the food choices we, as a group make. I believe that we all have a pretty good idea about what is considered “good” food and “bad” food but that doesn’t mean we always make the best choices. I think it will be very interesting to see the type of regular food choices we, as a fairly food savvy group make. I could be wrong, but I suspect that just because we think we know what is “good” and what is “bad” doesn’t mean we always eat the “good” stuff. I could be totally wrong and I might be the only one who drinks wine, eats chocolate and enjoys some other goodies but I suspect I have some friends out there who also enjoy the “bad” on occasion.

The whole point of my project is to collect some data about what we eat. Not how much we eat, just what we eat. I won’t know which journal entries belong to which participants. As I mentioned, the journals are anonymous – go crazy, don’t hold back.

After I have compiled all the data I will summarize the results and make them available for all participants to view. I think it will be interesting. I suspect I am going to learn something. It’s always fun to learn something new, especially about ourselves.

Here’s a quick break down of what you, as a participant will be required to do:

  • days 1 – 4, fill out four days of the on-line food journal
  • day 5 & 6, review some information I will give you about “good” and “bad” food.
  • day 7 – 11, fill out four more days of the food journal
  • day 12, take a short, 10 question survey

That’s it. After that you can sit back and wait for the results. Pretty easy.

A big thanks to all that have already contacted me and plan to participate. I really appreciate your help. If you haven’t signed up but are thinking about it, please do. The more data I can gather the more interesting the results will be.

If you would like to participate:

Please contact me through the “contact” button on the main navigation bar at the top of the page. I will reply to your e-mail confirming that you are part of the group and let you know when the project will begin. I suspect we will get started next week.

Thanks everyone.
