Sugar Free Taco Seasoning
If you are following a low-carb, keto lifestyle or if you’re just trying to reduce the amount of added sugar in your life then you need to look closely at spice mixes. It’s crazy how sugar gets added to EVERYTHING. I do tend to just mix spices when I’m cooking but sometimes it is nice to just buy a spice mix all prepared. I should start counting the times I pick a delicious looking spice mix only to put it back because sugar is part of the ingredient list. Taco and fajita seasoning are no exception.
Keto Taco Seasoning
Here’s the taco seasoning mix that I make and use. The good news, this one is pretty easy. If you make a lot of taco meat you might want to double this recipe. I typically use about 2 tablespoons per pound of meat. Add more or less depending on your taste. Also, mess with this recipe, make it as hot or mild as you like. I don’t tend to like things too spicy so this mix is probably on the mild side.
If you are someone who can’t tolerate nightshades then this seasoning or any seasoning that include pepper spices is not a good idea. You need to avoid all nightshade vegetables, even in their spice form. Sorry.
Notes
It's about 2.5 net carbs per 2 TBSP or 1 lb of meat. The actual net carbs will depend on how many servings you get out of a lb. of meat. The carbs are pretty negligible once you break the meat into servings.
