I have to do a little research project for my class. It’s a food journal type of research. I’m hoping to get a group of people to participate. I want to do the project for a group. No personal data points. All information and data that is submitted to me will be confidential. I won’t even know whose journal I’m looking at. The only identifiable information I will ask for at the top of each journal entry will be an age range and if you are male or female.
The actual assignment for my class is to do individual food evaluations. I kind of like the anonymous group idea better so I’m going off the rails. I’d like to see, as a group, what we all eat and what our understanding of food is. I also think this makes it easier for people to be really honest with their food journals. Documenting your perfect breakfast is great but even better is the doughnut you had when you got to work. That’s the kind of honesty I’m looking for. I’ll admit it, I ate an entire bag of cracker jacks the other night. It was really good!
It’s a short research project. I will be asking for 3 or 4 days of food journal submissions (haven’t decided on the number of days yet), a short survey (10 questions or less) and then another 3-4 days of journal submissions. All participation will be done electronically. I have made an on-line food journal questionnaire that you can fill out and then submit. It will go directly to my e-mail.
As participants in my research project you will also get some “educational” materials that I have created explaining the good and bad of foods and stuff like that. I don’t want to go into too much detail and ruin the surprise! Don’t get too excited. Really.
I plan to graph the information I collect through the food journals and survey. I think it will be really interesting to see what kinds of food we, as a group eat and what our real understanding of how that food affects our bodies is.
If you are interested in participating and you think you have the time to fill out a food journal for approximately a week please send me an e-mail through the “contact me” button on the navigation bar. You could leave a comment at the bottom of the post but that would not be so confidential. Just to be clear, I will know who is participating but I won’t know what journal entries belong to you.
As a participant you will get access to the food journal through the “Project” button on the navigation bar. The Project is password protected so after you let me know you want to participate I will shoot you the password.
I hope to have the project ready to roll by next week so please let me know as soon as possible if you will be participating.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much for your help.
